From News Center (Text and photos by Zhang Jinyezi, International Exchange Department (School of International Education) "Industry plays a crucial role in Indonesia. I am particularly excited today because I heard about the China-Indonesia Institute of Modern Craftsmanship of Intelligent Vehicle program." On the morning of May 14, 2025, during the 2025 World Digital Education Conference, LZPU hosted a seminar with Stella Christie, Indonesia's Vice Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology and a member of the Presidential Cabinet, along with her delegation. The seminar focused on LZPU's leadership in fostering collaboration between Chinese and Indonesian vocational colleges and enterprises. Stella expressed her thoughts and gratitude in fluent Chinese. Also attending the seminar were Ojat Darojat, Deputy Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Cultural Affairs of Indonesia; Katiman, Assistant Deputy Minister; Yudil Chatim, Cultural Counselor of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in China; Gan Jinming, President of LZPU; Wu Jianzhen, Executive Director of Wuhan HOPU Group; and Li Zhuming, Chairman of HOPU Overseas Economic Cooperation (Wuhan) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "HOPU International").

At the seminar, LZPU provided a detailed report on three major collaborations with Indonesian colleges. Firstly, LZPU partnered with LiuGong Machinery Co., Ltd. (LiuGong) to establish two training centers in collaboration with two national polytechnics in Indonesia. This initiative successfully trained 29 teachers and provided tailored training for 155 Indonesian students. Secondly, LZPU was selected to join the China-ASEAN Institute of Modern Craftsmanship, specializing in intelligent vehicles. It has partnered with six Chinese companies and nine Indonesian national polytechnic institutes to implement dual-degree cooperative education programs structured as "1+1+1" and "2+1+1". Through this initiative, LZPU has delivered tailored training for over 120 Indonesian students. Thirdly, LZPU led the establishment of the China-Indonesia TVET Industry-Education Alliance. Through this alliance, we have successfully trained 31 Indonesian teachers, launched the Indonesian vocational education standards upgrading program, and implemented the "1+10+100+1,000" China-Indonesia TVET cooperation program. It was highly recognized by the Indonesian leaders attending the seminar.

After hearing the report, Stella requested to speak in Chinese to show her respect and gratitude. She outlined the development strategy prioritized by Indonesian President Prabowo and his commitment to enacting change. He believes that cooperation in vocational education is the area where the joint initiative of both countries' leaders can be implemented most effectively and swiftly. When hearing about the challenges in aligning the curriculums of the two countries due to policy barriers, Stella immediately responded, "We don't need such a policy. Secretary, please take note of this. We need to make a change. It's especially important to discuss existing issues today, as we don't often have the opportunity to address them. If there are any problems, you must bring them to our attention. Feel free to reach out to me regarding any restrictive regulations in Indonesia that require support and change." Her remarks highlighted the Indonesian government's urgent desire to cooperate.

At the seminar, Ojat also expressed his gratitude and support. They took a pragmatic approach to promote the initiative and suggested that LZPU and HOPU International visit Indonesia together in June to present relevant information to leaders and members of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology. They expressed hope that LZPU would invite Chinese companies operating in Indonesia to participate in the demand research meeting organized by the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Cultural Affairs, aiming to swiftly address issues and further deepen and solidify vocational education cooperation between the two countries.
