From News Center (Text & Photo by Wu Zhaohui from the International Exchange Department/School of International Education) On November 15, 2024, the 2024 World Chinese Language Conference was grandly opened in Beijing. Vice President Ran Fusong represented LZPU at the conference and delivered a speech at the specialized symposium on "Chinese Language + Vocational Skills."

Following the themes of "Education Development with Industrial Demand, Seeking Ocean-oriented Development Opportunities," "Chinese Language + Vocational Skills," and "Innovative Practices in Localized Talent Training," Ran Fusong shared LZPU's journey of international development. He described how LZPU progressed from initially "borrowing ships to sail overseas" alongside LiuGong Machinery Co., Ltd., to providing customized services for enterprises ("building ships to sail overseas"), and finally to sharing resources and establishing an international industry-education alliance, leading nationwide "group ventures overseas." He explained the evolution from "giving fish" (sharing standards and resources) to "teaching how to fish" (training Indonesian teachers in Chinese technical and vocational education and training (TVET) methods and models), detailing LZPU's exploration and experience in promoting Chinese vocational education standards and resource sharing internationally. He emphasized LZPU's practices and experiences in building a comprehensive teaching team during the implementation of the "Chinese Language + TVET" talent training program for ASEAN students. He also outlined the key challenges LZPU is currently addressing and its approach to solving these issues.

The World Chinese Language Conference was hosted by the Ministry of Education and organized by institutions including the Center for Language Education and Cooperation. Vice President Han Zheng attended the opening ceremony, where he read President Xi Jinping's congratulatory letter and delivered a speech. During the conference, several specialized forums and parallel sessions were held, including a symposium commemorating the 20th anniversary of the Confucius Institute and a specialized symposium on "Chinese Language + Vocational Skills" education. The conference was attended by 2,000 participants, including officials from education authorities and institutions from over 160 countries, leaders of international language and cultural organizations and international bodies, university presidents, renowned Chinese language education experts, sinologists, envoys stationed in China, and corporate representatives.

This marks LZPU's first participation and presentation at a parallel session of the World Chinese Language Conference. This participation demonstrates two significant points: First, it shows that LZPU's recent achievements in implementing the "Chinese Language + Vocational Skills" international education model, following the principle of "Education Development with Industrial Demand," have gained widespread recognition and approval. Second, it reflects LZPU's commitment and strategic thinking toward further enhancing the quality of international industry-education integration. During the conference, LZPU's International Exchange Department held in-depth discussions with leaders from the Center for Language Education and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education and the Indonesian Embassy in China regarding the feasibility and implementation strategies for establishing a "China-Indonesia Language and TVET Institute" in Indonesia. The parties reached a consensus on moving the project forward.
