The competition was hosted by the Foreign Student Education Management Professional Committee of the Guangxi Higher Education Association and organized by the School of International Education of Yulin Normal University. A total of 111 international students from 15 countries participated, using calligraphy as a bridge to exchange skills and deepen friendships. Liuzhou Polytechnic University (LZPU) selected five outstanding international students to compete in the hard-pen and brush calligraphy categories. With solid skills and excellent performance, our students achieved remarkable results: Pimpasut Chanaporn (Thailand) won the First Prize; Nguyen Thi Huyen (Vietnam) won the Second Prize; Chowdhury Tafsir Mahmud (Bangladesh), Plubplueng Apinya (Thailand), and Ryo Carnavaro (Indonesia) won the Third Prize. These achievements fully demonstrated the effectiveness of LZPU's international Chinese education and the successful promotion of Chinese culture.
After receiving her award, Pimpasut Chanaporn expressed her joy, noting that the trip to Fengshan allowed her not only to participate in a high-level calligraphy competition but also to experience the integration of natural scenery and cultural arts during the subsequent Sanmenhai study tour. Outside the competition, LZPU teachers and students joined the study activities, traveling by boat through sinkholes and karst caves and appreciating the natural wonder of "mountains embracing the sea and caves opening into gateways", experiencing the ecological beauty of shifting lights and water reflections. Many international students remarked that the spirit of natural landscapes resonates with the artistic charm of calligraphy, and that this study tour deepened their understanding of the Chinese cultural philosophy of "the unity of man and nature".
This is the third time LZPU has organized international students to participate in the calligraphy competition, with students winning awards in previous years as well. LZPU has long attached great importance to Chinese cultural education for international students by offering featured courses in calligraphy and intangible cultural heritage, organizing cultural field trips, and building platforms for multicultural exchange. By combining competition and study tour, the experience enhanced international students' Chinese character application skills and artistic appreciation, while also enabling them to become perceivers and communicators of Chinese culture. Looking ahead, LZPU will continue to deepen the development of international education, promote cultural exchange and mutual learning between China and other countries, and cultivate more international talents who understand and appreciate China.
