From News Center (Text and Photo by Qin Yiqing, School of Arts) From November 8 to 10, 2025, the 2025 National Packaging Design Vocational Skills Competition, sponsored by the China Packaging Federation, was held at Zhongshan Torch Polytechnic. After fierce competition, two LZPU teams stood out, winning the First Prize and an Excellence Award respectively, bringing honor to the university.

The two LZPU teams featured four students from the School of Arts: Liang Zongman (Advertising Art Design, Class of 2024) and Liao Liuying, Luo Kaidan, and Lu Siyi (Advertising Art Design, Class of 2025). They were jointly coached by Long Yibiao and Qin Yiqing of the Advertising Art Design faculty at the School of Arts.

A total of 47 teams from more than 30 higher vocational colleges nationwide participated in the competition. Aligned with the packaging industry's need for intelligent upgrading and green transformation under the "Made in China 2025" strategy, the event highlighted the leading role of vocational skills competitions in training technical and skilled talents. The competition, themed "Skills Light Up the Future, Design Reshapes Packaging", focused on packaging design for common market products. Entries were required to demonstrate structural innovation, visual communication, the use of eco‑friendly materials, and digital design capabilities, in line with national vocational skills standards.

The School of Arts attached great importance to the competition. Adhering to the principle of promoting education through competition and integrating industry with education, the school established an integrated teaching‑training‑competition‑innovation platform, and carefully organized its advertising design instructors to coach the team. During the competition, the students drew on their professional strengths—solid theoretical foundations, refined design skills, and innovative thinking—and devoted themselves fully to their project. Working closely and striving for excellence, they combined innovative concepts with green and intelligent elements to produce highly creative, practical packaging design that won high praise and unanimous recognition from the judges.

LZPU has long emphasized hands‑on teaching and skills development. By actively participating in vocational skills competitions, the university provides students with platforms to showcase their abilities and accelerate professional growth, effectively promoting well‑rounded development. LZPU is confident its students will continue to excel in more fields and bring further honor to the university and society.
